I got to talk to Tim this evening and he gave me all the info about today. Backing up, they biked for 68 miles yesterday! Today they went 30 miles. They started at 11:00 a.m. today, it was a little later than the other days, but they needed the rest after a long night in the tent. They rode slower today to help them recover from the tough ride yesterday. Tim said they tried to stop every 5-6 miles to rest in the shade and drink their water. They rode 16 miles to the Current River and laid in the water and played Trivia Pursuit. : ) At 3:30 they left the river and rode 14 more miles through the toughest hills they had encountered yet!
At one point all of the boys were out of water and they happened to come across a "Good Ol Boy" with a hose and they ask if they could fill up their water bottles. He was happy to help and they wet their heads down and filled up. Tim, Dustin, and Brandon have all said this has been the most strenuous thing they have ever done in their lives.
They arrived in Eminence, MO. at 5:30...they found a nice diner to eat dinner and they opted for a cheap hotel for the night. A night of good sleep, air conditioning and a shower is bound to be good for them.
Somewhere on their travels today they came across a preacher woman who offered them fresh lemonade and she prayed for them before they left! Thank you Lord for watching out for these guys and for putting such great people on their path.
Tim wanted me to make sure I told you that at one point they were coasting down hill at 48 mph!!!
