Mr. Assistant Principal

Thursday, August 18, 2011 was Tim's first day (with students) at Buffalo Prairie Middle School.  He told me I couldn't put these pictures on Facebook but that I could post them on the blog because less people looked at my blog!

Things have been going well for Tim, he really enjoys the new challenge and I think he's going to do an amazing job.

BPMS is going to have a great year!

Ellen's first day of Preschool

Ellen started preschool this year.  She attends Sunshine Preschool Monday-Thursday from 8-11.  A few days before her first day of school we were able to take Ellen to see her room, meet her teacher, and drop off her supplies.
If you know Ellen, she was beyond excited to start school.  We had a countdown chain for about 15 days prior to her first day. Tearing off a chain was the first thing she did after she got out of bed every morning.  Then she proceeded to tell anyone who would listen how many days she had until school started!

Ellen and her teacher Ms Campbell at the Open House night.

Ellen and I going through a checklist that Ms Campbell had for her during Open House.
So, on Monday, August 22, 2011 Ellen started preschool!!!  She had her outfit picked out the night before, she knew what she wanted her hair to look like...she was ready to rock & roll.  We took some pictures before we left that morning and the sun was shining in her eyes, so she's got a funny look on her face.

Ellen requested that I take a picture of the back of her backpack.  PRINCESSES!!

Standing outside the building ready to get started!  "Mom, you can just drop me off at the door, I'll go in by myself!"  This is what she told me as we were eating breakfast that morning.  I told her that Ms Campbell requires all moms and dads to bring them in the building everyday.  (true story)  I might be wishing this were not the case come October when I have to haul Ellen, Sophia, AND Olivia inside the building!
Anyway, as we pulled into the parking lot I told Ellen that I wanted to pray for her each day before she went inside.  I was very surprised when I got choked up while praying for her.  But after that, I was fine.  It was little sister Sophia who had the hard time saying good-bye.  "I want my Ellen!"  was what she was crying as we left the building.  It was a touching moment.

Once we got inside she knew exactly what to do.  She found her hook and put up her backpack.  She was so proud of herself.

She was/is one happy Sunshine Preschooler!
Things have been going great at Preschool.  She's making friends, has gotten to be the line leader, and always has a story to tell about the day.  I guess her one complaint came after the first day when she told me, "mom, I didn't learn how to read today!"
I LOVE THIS KID!!!!

When Ellen got home she was greeted with her favorite treat...Chocolate Chip Cookies!!!

What's been going on...

Well, I had a bunch of random pictures that I wanted to post so I'm going to post them all at one time.  We've been busy around here lately and I have done a terrible job of blogging.  I'm taking the easy way out and making a hodge-podge post about what we've been up to.

1. These foam tubes are supposed to be used on the edges of the coffee table. The girls decided they would be better used as elephant trunks and tails. (and yes, they ran around the house making elephant sound!!!)

2. Ellen requested a hair cut before she started preschool. I think it turned out pretty darn cute!

3.  The girls helped Tim wash the truck.  I donn't think helps gets much better than that!

4.  We had a day that it rained pretty much all day long.  They girls were super excited to go out and play in the puddles.

5.  The way children pick up technology amazes me.  As part of Tim's new job came a new iPad!  The girls have quickly picked up on how to play Angry Birds.

By the way, I think everyone would play better if they were dressed like a ballerina!!!
Sophia getting a lesson on how to use one finger to play the game.

Ellen is REALLY good at playing this game!

6.  It was bound to happen!  I'm just suprised it took this long!  The girls were putting soccer balls under their shirts so that they could have a belly like momma!  I have to admit, it was pretty funny  : )

I'll have to keep this picture for future comparrison.

7.  Again, children and technology!  Sophia was just doing what her daddy was doing, talking on the cell phone.  Why not add a little texting in there too!

So, that's what's been going on in the Garber house lately!  It feels good to be "caught up" on my blogging!  : )

Master Bathroom Remodel

As our summer vacation was winding down we decided to re-do our master bathroom.  I use the term "we" very loosely because I didn't do much at all.  I helped pick colors and stuff like that but Tim wouldn't let me do any of the actual work!  Being pregnant kind of put a damper on things such as painting or sanding.

So, here are some before pictures of our bathroom:

We've always known that our light fixture wasn't in the middle of our mirror.  This is what it took for Tim to fix it...a big hole in the wall!

The next step was to remove the counter top.

There were many more steps that didn't get documented, but here's what the final product looked like.
Darn flash camera!
New wall color, counter top, sink, back splash, painted cabinets, light fixture, and frame around the mirror.  I was so pleased with how it turned out!

What a difference!  Way to go TIM!!!

Ellen turns 5!

On July 8, we celebrated Ellen's 5th birthday!  5 years ago the Lord blessed us with our first baby, and she has been such a blessing.  Unknowingly, Ellen has taught us so much about God and his love for us.
Ellen is such a loving little girl.  She hurts when others hurt and rejoices when others rejoice.  A perfect example of what God's word says.  Ellen has a joy for life that is very infectious, she loves being around people, and her laughter is one of the sweetest sounds on earth.  Ellen loves to help whether it be washing the dishes, building a loft, or working in the yard.
THANK YOU LORD FOR ELLEN!

The birthday spread : )
The birthday girl fresh out of bed showing that she's 5 today!

Ellen and Ariel eating a fabulous breakfast...doughnuts!

I found this cottage on-line months ago and knew the girls would love it.

The girls wanted to have their lunch in the cottage.

Ellen's strawberry sprinkle cake!

For dinner, Ellen chose to go to Incredible Pizza.  We had lots of yummy pizza and played some fun games.

I absolutely LOVE this picture!  I'm going to frame it and put it in the girls room.

Fun times had by all at Incredible Pizza.  Happy 5th birthday Ellen!!

4th of July

Better late than never right?  We've been busy around here but I wanted to update you on what the girls have been up to.  We were in Bolivar this year for the 4th of July which is unusual.  We had been traveling the weekends before and we didn't think driving sounded like much fun.  So, we grilled, hit up one of the local fireworks stands, and finished the evening at SBU watching the display with some church friends.
The girls dressed and ready to go see some fireworks!

Tim was getting ready to show the girls how to do some "fireworks" of their own.

The girls giving the ever famous "snaps" a try.

Tim and the girls lighting some black snakes.  We tried some color ones but they turned out to be duds.

Sparkler fun.  Sophia didn't really like the smoke in her eyes.  I don't blame her one bit!

Ellen hanging out with the BIG kids while we were waiting for the fireworks to start at SBU.

Too cute for words!
